AMSTERDAM - This edition’s focus is on positive action and the role such measures can play in employment and other spheres. Articles from experts in the field look at the difficulties in defining the concept and the legal landscape. A number of practical case studies of positive action are also presented. The final section looks to the future and how to make a success of positive action measures.

‘Putting Equality into Practice’ ties in with the European Commission conference on positive action that was held in Rome in April this year. The network of legal experts in the field of non-discrimination will soon publish an in-depth look at legal aspects of positive discrimination entitled ‘Beyond formal equality: Positive action under Directivess 2000/43/EC and 2000/78/EC. A further study on positive action measures will be underway soon.

The brochure is available for download on the anti-discrimination website. Printed copies copy in English, French, German and Italian can be requested at: empl-antidiscrimination@ec.europa.eu
