22/03/2011Connecting talent management and employee mobility

Rounding out the top five winning studies in Expatica’s HR Industry Survey Awards is Brookfield GRS’s second entry, 2010 International employee mobility in the new decade spotlight.

The spotlight focused on interview responses of sixteen senior international mobility leaders in Europe and North America across a range of industries.

The survey sought to determine what was changing for these leaders regarding international employee mobility practices and what they expected to be their top concerns over the next five to ten years. Included were the financial, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, consumer products, information technology, logistics, and oil and gas sectors. There were many issues put forth, covering everything from evolving business requirements to employee and family factors to geographic influences.  However, a few areas emerged as the key issues these global leaders expected to focus on over the next decade:

1)    Linking talent management and employee mobility
2)    The use of cross border commuters and longer business trips as an alternative to employee relocation
3)    Aggressive focus on emerging markets and new destinations for employees
4)    Metrics: With an investment as costly as international employee mobility, the ability to evaluate the outcome objectively is gaining more focus.

This survey is the second of Brookfield GRS’s submissions to win a place in the top five.  Reviewers were also very impressed with its 2010 Global Relocation Trends Survey, which won third place. Click here to read a summary of this study.
