We speak to personal coach and trainer Peter Koijen on NLP, the system he is using to help people to break through old patterns and beliefs to improve their lives all round.
Neuro Linguistic programming (NLP) was conceived in the seventies as a way of breaking patterns in behaviour and communication. The founders, a university professor and a student, modelled the success of three therapists to isolate the difference that made the difference. Now, almost 35 years later, NLP is one of the richest ways to catalyse personal development according to personal coach New Code NLP The next NLP practitioner course takes place over nine days from 15 to 23 October in Amsterdam and includes an optional cultural evening for participants to get to know one another better. In2Motivation offers training and motivational services for both private individuals as well as companies. The open enrolment NLP course in October is targeted for private individuals and several applicants have this course sponsored by their company. In2Motivation also offers cultural change workshops for companies that do mergers across geographical boundaries as well as different company cultures. Peter Koijen is available to give short workshop interventions on how to deal with change.

What you can do with NLP
Those taking a course in NLP first learn about human behaviour and communication. The communication model is the basis and combines conscious and unconscious behaviour, both verbal and non verbal communication.
“NLP helps you break your own patterns and gives you a toolbox which you can use in all areas of your life,” says Koijen. “The basis for the course is your own goals in all aspects of your life such as family, finance, living, health, hobbies, relationships, work, friends and personal development. We look at where you stand and what you want to achieve. Then we work on your patterns, your belief systems and the situations where you want more choice in your state and behaviour. The results are enormous and the way to reach your goals is also a lot of fun.
Koijen is organising an international NLP course via his training company In2motivation in October in Amsterdam. “This course is different from most courses we run in that both the participants as well as the trainers will come from various countries in Europe. The trainers are coming from Portugal, UK, Romania, Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece. The theme is therefore cultural diversities and NLP because we will invite the participants to share cultural ideas on dealing with behaviour and communication,” he says.
The course is also special according to Koijen in that the trainers are all International Trainer’s Academy (ITA) trainers. “This means that they are trained directly by John Grinder—the co-founder of NLP. Therefore the quality is excellent. You will be certified as International NLP Practitioner, which is internationally recognised.”
The course also introduces the so called New Code NLP, an upgraded version of NLP that John Grinder worked on over the last 10 years. “We are one of the two companies in the Netherlands to teach this format and the only one in the Netherlands to teach this in English,” says Koijen.
The New Code NLP approach doesn’t impose content explains Koijen. “This means that as a coach or as an NLP Practitioner you impose as little content or subjectivity into the interventions as possible. Basically, the software of the computer of NLP is updated and has better effects on the unconscious. Plus a numerous games are included which makes it playful and fun.”
