Culture and books
The Antiques Diva explains how Europe became her playground and shares her knowledge of antiques shopping in France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Spain, Germany, and Switzerland. Do you like to absorb your culture through music? Learn about Irish music. Interested in writing a book about your life abroad? Then read how to write an expat bestseller and the art and value of journaling as you travel.

British cuisine

Eating the local food is one of the most important ways to experience a new culture and the UK has a lot to offer, with distinct cuisines from each of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, plus the adopted (and adapted) cuisines of the many immigrant cultures which have flourished within its borders. Did you know, for example, that chicken tikka massala was invented in Glasgow? But let's not forget the great British classics like traditional Sunday roasts, fish and chips and cream tea.

Eating out

Especially if you live in London or another big city, you'll be spoiled for choice when it comes to dining out. Restaurant reviewer and blogger EuWen keeps us informed of where's hot in the dining world, taking us on a tour of eateries on London's Southbank, giving us the lowdown on some of the highlights of British gastronomy, like Heston Blumenthal's world renowned restaurant The Fat Duck.

An unassuming place in Brixton Market is serving ‘everything you could want in a pizza' while Spanish tapas are finally taking off in London. If a quick lunch is all you're after, you could do a lot worse than go to the ‘uniquely British' chain Pret A Manger, according to blogger Kelvin. However, blogger Jann Seal reminds us to stop and smell the sausages.

Travel in and outside the UK

The United Kingdom is filled with great destinations for day trips, weekends and longer breaks. Why not visit ‘Entertaining Edinburgh' this summer, in time for the Festival? Or experience fun, sun and candy floss in Brighton, beachcombing in London, the gift of gab or Welsh magic.

Fancy something a little less conventional for your next trip? Have you considered a holiday home exchange, holidaying in an Irish lighthouse or sleeping your way across Europe?

Driving and transport in the UK
How easy is it to get around the UK? Check out this guide to public transport in the UK to find out. If you'd rather make your own way around, read up on driving in the UK and exchanging foreign driving licences.

Perhaps travel writer Rick Steves' tips on driving on the left will encourage you to travel by car round the UK and Ireland. However, maybe you are more like Jann who said that driving in the UK is driving her mad.
