National and public holidays in the UK 2011 Here are some important dates in the United Kingdom holiday calendar.

Remember that public holidays are slightly different in Scotland compared to England and Wales. Northern Ireland has the same eight public holidays as England and Wales plus two more: St Patrick's Day and the Anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

ENGLAND AND WALES


3 January - New Year's Day (bank holiday)
27 March - Daylight Saving Time starts
22 April - Good Friday (public holiday)
25 April - Easter Monday (bank holiday)
29 April - Royal Wedding
2 May - Early May Bank Holiday (first Monday in May)    
30 May - Spring Bank Holiday (last Monday in May)    
29 August - Summer Bank Holiday (last Monday in August)    
30 October - Daylight Savings Time ends
26 December - Christmas Day (public holiday, in place of 25 December)    
27 December - Boxing Day (bank holiday, in place of 26 December)
